Crochet Heals

It's been a while since I've posted. Life has been a hot mess for a while. Between work, personal illness, and my dad being in the hospital, time just got away from me. Thank goodness everyone is doing much better now, and I have some time to breathe... or crochet.
Isn't it funny that when you are in a crisis situation there is a lot of sit around and wait time? I experienced this a lot over the last few months. While waiting around in the hospital I needed something to do with my hands and to keep my mind off of things. So, of course, I pulled out some yarn and crochet hooks. I began my distraction with a beautiful afghan for a friend's son who graduated from high school in May! Congratulations to all 2026 seniors! The afghan pattern was a lovely pattern called Field and Forrest Crochet Throw by Clover Patch Creative on Etsy. I really enjoyed working this one. The designer combined simplicity with elegance to create a beautifully textured pattern. The young man who received the afghan absolutely loved it!
The next project I hooked was a lovey for a baby gift. The lovey was a sweet Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) lovey by SewThisIsCrafting. The lovey turned out so great that I was actually commissioned to make another one for a friend at work. I love making these little gifts for baby showers. Loveies make great baby gifts and are fairly quick and easy to work up. These Mix and Match Lovies by Featherby and Friends are my go-to lovies for baby shower gifts. I love the way the designer attaches the blanket... without sewing! I loved it so much that use this technique on all other lovey patterns. If you enjoy making lovies, you should check it out.
Next on my hook was a rocket ship mosaic overlay baby blanket by HookedbyKariPatterns. I had never worked a mosaic overlay before, and was a little intimated by the fact that you change color on every round. I almost didn't work it because I did NOT want to weave in all the ends. Fortunately, I discovered that there is an envelope border that you can just crochet over all those pesky little ends. Minimal weaving necessary, of course you do have to weave the ends from the border, but that amounted to 2 ends, instead of 300. Whew!
I got through the last few months with lots of prayer and lots of crochet. Praise God that my dad is doing much better, and gets better every day. With every stitch I made there was a little prayer. I prayed for a lot of things during this time. I prayed for my dad's healing and recovery. I prayed for my friend's son who is going away to college in August. God is faithful to answer prayers if you pray with faith. While I titled this blog post "Crochet Heals", crochet was the tool to help me pass time while God worked his miracles. God is good, all the time!
